Time to get serious
Alright, its a new day and a new idea. We were going to reshoot the images for our whole clip to replace all the dud, out of focus, poorly lit, images. When you’re taking 300 or so images it’s hard to get them all perfect. So we have a day to go and are currently busting our chops to restart and finish this.
Since we were going to reshoot 300 or so images anyway, we decided to throw the whole original idea off and go with an idea we were going to be more comfortable in. We realised that our original idea was pretty weak and limited. A paper plane flying through the city to deliver one message. Boring. This idea had changed over the past few weeks due to influence from our peers and tutors. So really, without realising, we had let others lead our clips direction. Now that pressure is on we have taken back control. We are returning to one of our first ideas, utilising Google Earth, to express communication on more of a global scale.
We will jump from country to country using transitions from zooms and travel over Google Earth. At each place in a country a paper plane will be caught and thrown again to ‘pass it on’.
I have spent the last few hours taking almost 200 images from Google Earth over six countries while Dave has set up a photo studio downstairs taking images of classmates catching and passing on the plane. We will photoshop the people on top of relevant backgrounds in each country location.
